[15th June 2026]

This week marks World Continence Week, an annual awareness campaign that aims to break down stigma, encourage open conversations, and improve understanding of bladder and bowel health.

Continence challenges can affect people with Pelvic Radiation Disease (PRD) which can have a significant impact on confidence, wellbeing, and quality of life. We want to reassure people that they are not alone and that support is available.

As part of last year’s World Continence Week activities, we hosted a special themed Chat Together session focused on continence support. We were joined by Karen, a Continence Specialist Nurse with over 20 years of experience, who shared expert advice on managing urinary incontinence. The session covered practical topics including lifestyle changes, medication, continence products, and accessing local continence services. If you missed the session, you can watch the recording below (Please note that the advice given is based on UK guidance and services):

While last year’s discussion focused primarily on urinary incontinence, we also recognise the importance of raising awareness of faecal incontinence. Both bladder and bowel health are topics that are regularly discussed within our Chat Together support group and our Online Community, reflecting the experiences and concerns of many people living with PRD.

You’re welcome to join our Chat Together support group or Online Community to continue the conversation around continence and PRD. These welcoming peer support spaces provide an opportunity to share experiences, ask questions, and connect with others who understand the challenges you may be facing. Whether you prefer to take part in live discussions or engage in your own time, you can participate at a pace that feels right for you.

Are you experiencing bladder or bowel symptoms? Our Symptom Diary can help you identify what may be making them worse. Keep a record of what you eat and drink, any medications you take, and changes in your symptoms. Over time, this can help you spot patterns and support conversations with your healthcare team.
