The All Party Political Group for Radiotherapy (APPGRT) and Radiotherapy UK have published a vision document aimed at setting world-class radiotherapy standards across the UK over the next decade.
World-class Radiotherapy in the UK: Right Patient, Right Treatment, Right Time
The initiative highlights the need to improve patient outcomes and quality of life.
The PRDA is extremely encouraged to see that people living with late effects of radiotherapy (such as Pelvic Radiation Disease) are a focal point, and that there is clear recognition of the need for action on ensuring patients have access to late effects support services.
The document acknowledges that “coping with long term effects of radiotherapy treatment is a major issue for patients” and recommends that better data collection about late effects will lead to improvements in people’s quality of life. There is also a moving quote from a person living with PRD.
