A symptom diary is a good way to track which foods, drinks and/or medications may be causing your symptoms.
Benefits to keeping a symptom diary
Keeping a note of what you eat may help you to notice a pattern of symptoms which you may not have noticed before. Keeping a diary, and taking it with you to appointments with your healthcare team, will help you to discuss your care options and make small lifestyle changes to help improve your symptoms.
Tips for completing your symptom diary
- Write down everything you eat (including snacks), drink and any medications but also make a note of any skipped meals.
- Keep your symptom diary for at least 2 weeks.
- Try and incorporate into your daily life as this will help when trying new foods
- Record each time you use the toilet.
