The Department for Health and Social Care’s newly published National Cancer Plan for NHS England sets out how cancer care will be improved in the coming years.
We are extremely pleased that someone living with Pelvic Radiation Disease is represented on the cover. Our sincere thanks to Amy for sharing her experience and for giving permission for her photograph to be used. You can read Amy’s story here.
How does the Plan impact people with Pelvic Radiation Disease
The Plan recognises that some people need more support during and after cancer treatment. It talks about improving quality of life and making sure care does not stop when treatment ends. This is especially important for people living with PRD, who often struggle to access the right care and support once their cancer treatment is over.
A key part of the Plan is a commitment to improve what is known as supportive oncology. This means better rehabilitation, psychological support, and faster access to care when symptoms become severe. It also includes developing clear national standards so that people get consistent care wherever they live.
